stitch club :: 1/2023 :: everbloom

here is our new pattern for january! i've named this pretty little tangle of vines and leaves 'everbloom' and i can't wait to see it all stitched up.

for these brown thorny vines, i'm using the darker brown floss (2 strands) and back stitch. remember to keep each stitch relatively small, so that the curves will be smooth instead of jagged and sharp.

to stitch the pink flowers, i'm using a single strand of floss and star stitch.

i decided to make the leaves two-toned, half light green and half dark teal. i'm using satin stitch (2 strands) for them.
pro tip: for each leaf, lightly draw (use a regular pencil or a water-soluble pen) a line down the center to use as a guideline.

here i've covered all the lines and filled all the shapes, but there's one more floss color that i haven't used yet... any guesses where i'm going with this?

for the finishing touches, i'm whipping the back stitched vines. i used the darker brown for the foundation stitches (the back stitch part) and i'm using the lighter brown for the whipping. (you can see the whipped back stitch on the vines in the foreground here.)

and here we are, all done!
