brick stitch

i finished up my golden mandala! i'm really happy with the monochrome stitching, AND i really love all of the color variations that i see in the #cozybluestitchclub feed!

sometimes the hardest part of embroidery is choosing which colors to use. but, there's so many good colors, it's hard to go wrong.

i've gotten several questions about how to embroider brick stitch, so i made a quick video tutorial for it:

and you can also check out the how-to in my stitch library here.

brick stitch starts with a row of simple back stitch. the next row is just another row of back stitch, offset -- like bricks or subway tiles. then, repeat the rows to fill whatever shape you're stitching.

you want to keep all of your stitches the same length EXCEPT for the stitches at the ends of each row. the end stitches will be either full length or half (long or short) to allow for the brick pattern.
