stitch club :: 2/2019 :: leaf dance

my february hoop is coming along nicely.

as i mentioned in an earlier journal entry, i planned to use brick stitch again this month. this time i used it around the edges of the leaves to make them bolder, to differentiate them from the inner contour lines of the leaves.

if you stitched my fall bluebirds pattern, you might recognize the turquoise leafy vine. like i did with the bluebirds pattern, i used back stitch for the stems, and satin to fill the tips.

the coral flowers are just star stitches (straight stitches that all meet in the center) and the blue dots are dot stitches (like 2 tiny seed stitches right on top of each other).

i'm planning to go back and add some little details here and there. i'll post my progress on instagram too, if you want to follow along.

(if you'd like a stitch refresher, check out my 'basic stitches for hand embroidery' how to. you can find it at the bottom of this email and also on my website.)
