stitch club :: 3/2023 :: lucky day

our march #cozybluestitchclub pattern, lucky day, is here!
i don't know about you, but i am ready to bring some fresh green plant energy into my life, and perhaps a little good luck too.
🍀🍀🍀
this design features a couple types of clover leaves, with some wood sorrel leaves and flowers mixed in too. if you look close, you might find a lucky four-leaf clover (or two)!

to stitch these large clover leaves, i'm using back stitch [2 strands] for the outline and the midribs, and the veins are stitched using straight stitch [1 strand].

you might recognize these leaves from slow + steady! they were the inspiration for this pattern, though they played a smaller part in that design (from november 2022). while i was stitching them i realized i wanted to make a whole hoop full. so i added a few more types of leaves, to liven things up a little, and a sprinkle of sorrel flowers too.

here's my little embroidery couch nest:

🍀

for these smaller clover leaves, i'm using a single strand and satin stitch.
stitch by stitch, things are coming together.

i'm working on these teensy wood sorrel leaves and using whipped back stitch [2 strands] for the outlines, plus two tiny straight stitches [2] for the center lines.
🍀
fun fact: wood sorrel is edible. it's high in vitamin c and tastes tart and lemony!

these yellow flowers are done with satin stitch [2 strands], and with that... it's done!

this one was a fairly quick and super simple design. just 3 types of leaves, 1 type of flower.

i am ready for spring! 🍀
