stitch club :: 2/2025 :: nurture nature

nurture nature
🌱
this new design represents care and growth, and celebrates nature's abundance and resilience. a perfect piece to remind us of the beauty in nurturing our world.

for these green vines and leaves, i'm using back stitch all the way. 2 strands of floss (remember that it comes 6-stranded, so you'll want to seperate the strands, and just use 2 of them here. save the rest for later.)

and here i've done the same with the red leaves and the light brown leaves.

i love this sweet little corner. next up, i've used the dark brown floss to stitch the leaves [fishbone/2] and the flower vine [back, lazy daisy/2]. for the blue flower, [colonial knots/2] and for the yellow berries, [satin/2]:

next, i want to show you this whipped back stitch that i'm using on the hand here.

with 2 strands, i back stitched the hand outline. now i'm making whip stitches around that line of back stitches (again using 2 strands).
the thumb is complete, and you can see how much smoother the whipped back stitches are, vs the regular back stitches.

lastly, i stitched the details on the leaves with colonial knots and satin stitch scallops, and same for the bracelets.

i'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. I like the mix of outlines and fill stitches, and it was a quick and satisfying project!
