stitch club :: 6/2026 :: gather

introducing 'gather,' a sweet bouquet of summer blooms to bring a little calm and color into your world 🌿can’t wait to see it come to life!

friends, let’s gather and stitch together 💙

i started with the watering can - outlined in back stitch, 2 strands:

and did the same for these light blue stems [back/2]. for the buds at the end of the stems, i used [satin/2].

next up, the cosmos!

first, i outlined the petals with [back/2] using the light pink floss. then i switched to a single strand and [back/1] for the petal contour lines.

next, i added a few [straight/1] stitches to each petal, using the dark pink floss.

i filled the center using [colonial knots/2] in yellow, plus a ring around the center using the dark pink floss again.

the purple flowers (asters) are super simple: [satin/2] which is really just two long straight stitches for each petal, and then [satin/2] in yellow for the centers.

i'm ready to start working on the leaves, so i'm going to load my needle with 2 strands of the dark green floss, and stitch the stems with [back/2] and the small dark green leaves with [satin/2], (the same way i made the purple aster petals):

then for the larger, more flowy, leaves, i'm going to use the brownish floss and [fishbone/2] - it's my favorite stitch for leaves  - and then [back/2] for the stems.

now that the leaves are all done, i need to work on the orange poppies. i am using [whipped back/2] for these, because i love the way this stitch handles curves - the lines are so smooth.

all done now!

this is such a pretty design - i hope you like it! i'll have it available as a kit and preprint in the fall.

💙
