stitch club :: 11/2025 :: ricrac

new month, new stitch club pattern - say hello to RICRAC, inspired by one of my favorite studio plants!
i chose the pot to start with, since it needs to be more in the background. using satin stitch [2 strands], i filled in the pot and saucer, leaving space for the lines of the plant hanger.

and then to make the plant hanger appear more like macrame texture, i'm using chain stitch [2 strands]. i will also use satin [2 strands] for the tassel and knots.

here you can see that i've used satin [2 strands] for the table (and some [back / 2] along the edge) and i have oriented the stitches in differing directions to give the table parts definition.
and - the ricrac cactus, star of the show! i really love the way satin stitch looks here, so i'm using satin [2 strands]. i know some folks don't like satin, so here's another idea...

i stitched this one as an example to show it filled using brick stitch [2 strands]. i think this is a great alternative if you want to fill the area, but don't want to use satin.

✨i'll be updating this post as i make more stitching progress... stay tuned! ✨
