color stories: RAD street art

💙 i've been taking morning walks for years and years now, and it's one of my favorite daily practices. getting outside every day (even when the weather is uninviting) is essential for me.
i love it all: the fresh air, the rhythm of my feet touching the ground, smiling hello to the people that i meet along the way, watching the birds flying by, seeing the clouds and sunshine, noticing the changes that come with each new season, each new day. just being outside in nature and in my community clears my mind, wakes me up, and helps me feel connected and whole.

i believe that inspiration really is everywhere, if you remember to look for it.

so, in the spirit of sharing some of that inspiration with you, i'm starting a new series for 2023: color stories.

for each story, i'll share photos from a different walk. and for each photo, i'll share a color palette (with DMC floss #s) inspired by that photo. 💙

these photos are from an early morning walk that i took down at the RAD (river arts district). it's on my way home after i drop my son off at school, so i walk there a lot. there's so much to see there! artist studios, food and drink spots, a beautiful riverside greenway, plus lots and lots of street art.

this is just a tiny sample of the art that you can find there. murals change regularly, so there's always something new and inspiring to find!

i hope these photos and colors inspire you to make something beautiful.

  • This is amazing! Love the street art I just moved back home to the Midwest, after 6 years in Asheville, and my Mom has since gotten super into quilting, and my eye was always caught by these amazing little embroidery kits at one of her favorite quilt shops. Imagine my surprise to discover that these were created by someone in Asheville! so excited to start one soon!

  • Love that place! I used to frequent that area as well and miss it since I’ve moved away. Asheville is filled with so many great artists and I love that they can share with the public down at the RAD. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Liz :)
