stitch club :: 4/2024 :: i see the moon

๐ŸŒ• i see the moon ๐ŸŒณ

it's our new april stitch club design! i just can't quit with the moons and leaves.

when i designed this, i knew i wanted the leaves to be dark green and dark teal/blue, but i wasn't sure how i would stitch them or how i'd use the two colors.

i ended up with what you see here. i'm using 2 strands - 1 of green + 1 of blue, threaded together - and filling the leaves with fishbone stitch.

the stems are 2 strands of green, in back stitch.

i love fishbone stitch, and it's perfect for leaves! as you stitch it, a small overlap forms along the middle line of the shape, which naturally creates the center vein of the leaf.

check out my STITCH LIBRARY for a complete tutorial for fishbone stitch (and more)!

ย

... and now, contonuing on this embroidery journey...
i stitched all of the stems using [back/2] and the green floss.
the moon glow is done with [straight/1] and the off-white floss.
for the hatch mark shading on the moon, i'm using [straight/2], and using [back/2] for the other lines and outline.

... ... ...

i'm completely in love with this design. loved designing it, loved stitching it, love the final results.

if you love it too, and you missed the boat for april stitch club, good news! the complete kit and the preprinted pattern will be available for you in mid-june 2024.
